From what I hear and see around the web, it appears that many of you believe that being featured in thousands of Etsy treasuries is something like rocket science.

Well, it isn’t!

However, there are things that you can do to increase your chances of being in one, and you should not feel any less important because so far it has not happened, or it has happened only a few times.

There is an infinite number of treasuries on the website, which means there are infinite chances of you being featured in one.

Here is a list of tips that may help you in doing exactly that.

Present your items well.

In fact, make it extraordinary. The item photo is not there to showcase the product.

It is also there to set the mood and provide context for what you have created.

Think of the photo as a small portion of an actual store’s window.

• How would you make it look?
• What theme does your product fit into?

Create a lovely backdrop theme, just be careful that your background is not too cluttered for your product to stand out.

Make high-quality products and maintain a good shop

This is quite logical. If you are not striving for making the best products you can, you will never stay on top of the competition.

Combine that with fantastic photos, and you are much closer to your store becoming the first stop when searching for treasury-material.

Apart from quality, strive for variety.

This will simply make people searching for different things will find something they like in your store.

Then they will include it in their treasury!

You may want to consider following trends but do so at your own risk.

What is much more important is making something that you love and like.

Follow what your gut is telling you and if that fits into a trend, great!

Don’t forget to network!

Network with people who are known for making treasuries.

All of those people have one thing in common: they love to curate lists, and they have a great reason for it.

It is a great challenge, and a lot of fun, too!

Join a treasury team, or start one yourself.

Use social media, and not only will you be one step nearer to featuring in a treasury, but you will also get to know amazing people, even potential friends.

Talk about your own treasuries.

Spread the word!

Be it through Facebook, Twitter, your circle of Etsian friends, and the people whose items you featured, do not let that treasury sit in vain.

Even by creating only one treasury weekly, you will make great progress in no time!

Return the favor or pay it forward.

If you have recently been featured in a particular treasury, make a similar one yourself. Or, return the favour to the person who featured you, and feature them in your next one.

It is all about the spirit of the Etsian community.

Explore what the articles are talking about, and look for keywords that you can use when making a treasury.

Write them out on a piece of paper, and use them when you are tagging your treasury.

Whatever it is that drives you, inspires you or engages you in any way, use it as a backdrop for a treasury.

Renew listings daily.

If you make it a habit to renew one item daily, and photograph and tag it well, your chances of it being selected for a treasury increase greatly.

Learn from others.

Did you notice a particular tagging trend for sellers who end up on the front page? Make use of it!

Of course, it is an absolute no-no to use the trending tags if they do not fit your items.

If your item is bright yellow, and the term of the month is ‘ocean colors,’ tagging your item with it is ridiculous.

Instead, try and think of other trending tags that actually fit your item’s description. Use them.

Show gratitude.

Finally, if you are notified that someone chose you for their treasury, never forget to respond and thank them.

Being featured in a treasury, regardless of how rarely or often it happens to you, is something you should be thankful for.

Whoever was putting it together invested some effort and the right thing to do is to show appreciation.

Comment, engage and pay it forward or back.
